The Short Answer

What should a California homeowner expect from a Fleetwood project?

Across California, Fleetwood is the premium end of the window and door market: every system is built to order in the USA — there is no stock, off-the-shelf version — and a typical project is a package of large sliding, pocket, or pivot openings quoted from a site measure, not a price list. What homeowners consistently pay for is the combination of product, structural preparation, waterproofing, and installation; on multi-opening projects the total regularly lands in five figures and up, driven mainly by how many openings there are, how large they are, and whether the openings already exist or have to be created. The consensus advice from architects and builders is the same everywhere: get the system spec’d to the opening and the exposure (coastal vs. inland), confirm the production timeline in writing, and hire the dealer who will still be there to service it.

That last point is where Versa Glass Co. is different — and it is a fact, not a slogan: we are the only Fleetwood dealer in our market that sells, installs, and services what it sells, and we are Fleetwood’s main servicing agent for the South Bay. One company is accountable for your doors for their entire life. “Most Fleetwood problems I’m called out on aren’t product problems — they’re install and adjustment problems from a decade earlier. Buy the service relationship, not just the door.” — Sam Q., Owner, Versa Glass Co., 20 years in the glass business, CSLB C-17 #1031357.

The Versa Difference

One company, accountable for the life of your doors

The typical Fleetwood buying experience involves three companies: a dealer who sells it, an installer you find yourself, and — when something needs adjusting years later — nobody. Versa Glass Co. closes that loop. We’re an Authorized Fleetwood Dealer and a licensed glazing contractor in one: the people who spec your system are the people who set it, waterproof it, and come back when it needs service.

Process

From consultation to final adjustment

01

Consultation & Measure

We review plans or visit the site, confirm openings, and spec the right series, glass, and finish.

02

Written Quote

A complete, itemized proposal — product, installation, waterproofing. No surprises.

03

Production & Receiving

Fleetwood builds to order. We track production, then receive and inspect every panel on arrival.

04

Install & Adjust

Our own crews install, seal, and fine-tune every panel — then walk the job with you.

Timeline is confirmed in writing before you commit. Production lead times vary by configuration — we would rather be accurate than fast-talking. Cost is driven by configuration, size and panel count, glass specification, finish, and site conditions; every system is built to order, so your quote follows a real measure, not a price list.

Questions

Answered straight

Why buy through Versa Glass instead of another dealer?
We’re an Authorized Fleetwood Dealer whose own licensed C-17 crews install what we sell — and we service Fleetwood after the sale. Most dealers hand you off to a separate installer and have no service department. We’re also Fleetwood’s main servicing agent for the South Bay, so one company is accountable for your doors for life.
What does a Fleetwood project cost?
Cost depends on the configuration (multi-slide, pocket, pivot, or window wall), overall size and panel count, glass specification, finish, and site conditions. Every Fleetwood system is built to order, so the honest route is a consultation and site measure — then a detailed written quote, with no obligation. We never publish ballpark pricing, because on custom systems it misleads more than it helps.
Do you service Fleetwood doors you didn’t install?
Yes — service is a core part of our business: pocket-door over-travel and alignment, bowed interlockers, bottom seals and weather barriers, rollers and tracks, locksets, and factory-matched paint, whether we installed the doors or not. See our service & repair page.
How long does a Fleetwood project take?
Fleetwood systems are manufactured to order, so timing is driven by production scheduling and configuration complexity. We confirm the production timeline in writing before you commit, then handle receiving, inspection, and installation scheduling with our own crews.
Can Fleetwood handle coastal conditions?
Yes — Fleetwood is known for coastal performance, with heavy-duty hardware, stainless options, and finishes engineered for ocean air. We’ll spec the right hardware and finish package for your distance from the water.
Do you work with architects and builders?
Regularly. We work from architectural plans on custom homes and remodels, review shop drawings, field-measure openings, and coordinate waterproofing and scheduling with your GC.
Do Fleetwood projects need a permit in California?
It depends on the opening. In most California cities, replacing a door or window in an existing opening at the same size is like-for-like work; creating or widening an opening, or altering structure, requires a building permit. Replacement fenestration also has to meet California Title 24 energy requirements — we spec the series and glass package to your climate zone and confirm the permit picture before you order.
How do I maintain Fleetwood sliding doors?
Keep the track vacuumed and the weep holes clear, rinse hardware with fresh water in coastal homes, and don’t force a panel that starts to feel heavy — that’s usually rollers or alignment asking for a small adjustment. As Fleetwood’s main servicing agent for the South Bay, we handle that service whether we sold the doors or not.
